GSA is delighted to announce the 2025 photography competition to encourage girls to be bold and go beyond their perspective through visual creativity.
As the final part part of our ‘Go Bold’ student event series for this year, we’re launching the 2024 photography competition. As GSA celebrates its 150 year anniversary, we invite students to explore the theme of time. Time is a concept that surrounds us in many different ways, from the fleeting moments of everyday life to the grand periods of history.
So spread the word and get everyone excited for this creative competition!
Through this competition, we aim to celebrate the diverse interpretations and representations of time through photography.
IDEAS
Capture a single moment that embodies the essence of time. It could be a fleeting expression, a decisive moment, or a frozen instance that tells a story.
Show landscapes that evoke a sense of timelessness. Whether it’s a rugged mountain range that has stood for millennia or a serene seascape that transcends temporal boundaries, or landscapes that speak to the enduring nature of time.
Explore the passage of time through transitional moments. This could include sunrise/sunset, changing seasons, or any other instance where time manifests through visible transitions.
Showcase people, objects, structures, or symbols that embody the passage of time. From ancient relics to modern innovations, capture images that tell the story of human history and progress.
TAKING PART
Get creative, think about the theme and snap your photo! Choose a title for your photo. The shorter the better usually!
Start your caption with – “Time…” and write a few sentences.
CAMERA EQUIPMENT
The best camera is the one you have access to.
People think that expensive cameras take great photos – this is not always true and our judges won’t be taking this into consideration.
Judges will be looking at your composition, creativity, storytelling and how you link your photo, title and caption to the theme.
Deadline is midday Friday 28 June
GSA will announce and celebrate the longlist, shortlist, and winners over its communications channels.
WINNERS & PRIZES
A winner will be announced for each age category and each winner will receive an lnstaX Fujifilm camera and film. The winners will also be invited to make a video recording of themselves showcasing their winning entry. The photos from the shortlist and winners will be displayed at the GSA annual conference in November.
Winning photos will be published on the GSA website at www.gsa.uk.com and shared on social media; winners must keep their status confidential until this time.
